Aliens Vs. Predator

I just saw the movie "Aliens vs. Predator" and I liked it. I thought it was better than Alien 4 and 3, but definitely not better than the first two movies.

It was an interesting departure from the other "Alien" movies, in that it took place in the present day on Earth. From what I gathered from watching "Aliens vs. Predator," Mr. Weyland had put into place the initial designs of androids after his image that would be used in the second "Aliens" film.

As well, we got to see an interesting teaming up of the humans with the predators against the aliens. The black woman who survives through to the end, the sole survivor, was honored by the predators for having killed an alien and surviving the ritual.

I enjoyed the historical references to various ancient cultures that were helped by the predators to build the ancient pyramids in various cultures throughout the world. And the pyramids were used for the adolescent predators to prove themselves worthy warriors in fighting against the aliens.

The ending was great. We saw the dead body of the predator taken by the predators' spaceship and when they left the body alone, a baby alien burst out of the predator's chest. We are left with this image, and we have lots of questions. Do the predators succeed in killing this alien infestation? Do they have technology on their advanced spacecraft to detect an alien once it is aboard their ship? We also wonder what happens to the black woman we became so fond of who was the sole survivor of the movie. Does this mean there will an Alien Vs. Predator sequel?

A sequel to Alien vs. Predator has lots of potential. It could involve the predators on their own ship; we could see a lot more of their culture and social customs. As well, we could see how they cope with an alien infestation on one of their own ships. They could even end up going back to Earth again and the black woman we saw in the first one will find a way to work with the predator aliens before they enter another pyramid on Earth. That way the aliens and humans would be fighting alongside each other against the aliens. That would be an interesting sequel.

Any other ideas for a sequel to Alien Vs. Predator or how AVP fits into the larger themes presented in the other Alien movies?

Sincerely,
James
